Colloques et conférences
From 1 January 2022 to 30 June 2022, France holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. For the occasion, the Philharmonie de Paris took part in an ambitious and highly symbolic project by hosting an orchestra of 120 young people from the 27 EU Member States: Orchestre Démos Europe.
The young musicians, aged 12 to 17, met for the first time at the Philharmonie de Paris from 19 to 26 February. They followed an intensive rehearsal schedule, and were mentored by professional musicians and led by orchestral conductors Corinna Niemeyer and Aurélien Azan Zielinski. The week came to a close with a concert in the Grande salle Pierre Boulez, attended by representatives of the EU Member States and of the Commission and the Parliament.
On Thursday, 24 and Friday 25 February, in addition to the ODE – Démos European Orchestra rehearsals, musical education professionals from the EU countries came together to hold a professional seminar at the Philharmonie de Paris. They shared practices and experience and discussed the major challenges associated with education policies and building the Europe of the future.
